Primary Role
Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water transmission
Key Accountabilities
- Perform all functions of the position in a safe and conscientious manner, with constant regard for the safety of fellow employees and the general public.
- Responsible to uphold all Company policies and procedures relative to safety and act in a professional manner to reduce the exposure of hazards to employees, customers, contractors, and themselves.
- Tasks include but are not limited to work on pipe, main or service lines, valves, hydrants, and fittings and may involve the use of technology, manual hand tools or power tools in the performance of assigned tasks; operating and inspecting valves and fire hydrants; maintaining tools and work equipment; investigating complaints and determining corrective actions needed per company procedure; completing all necessary forms, sketches and field notes and being knowledgeable of usage of maps and records; may perform facility mark-outs pursuant to Pennsylvania One-Call; maintains a properly equipped vehicle which may include DOT DVIR inspections; driving vehicles in performance of general job, including housekeeping of vehicles to conduct work as assigned by the supervisor or crew leader and to assist other personnel as required; performing NRW leak detection tasks as directed by management; responding to customer service inquiries including service disruptions, service line problems; performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge/Skills
- Must have basic geographical knowledge of company's service area and working knowledge of company policies, procedures and safety practices as well as regulations regarding confined spaces.
- Ability to operate company equipment and vehicles necessary for completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Attainment of specialized knowledge and skillsets will be required for certain specialized Utility work.
Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Prior utility experience preferred.
Certifications & Licenses
- Once an individual is hired into or awarded a Utility position, he or she must take and pass the appropriate state certification examination for Class E Water Distribution License within 24 months, and apply for certification within 6 months of achieving the minimum experience requirement for certification, if he or she had not already met the minimum experience requirement upon passing the certification test.
- Required to possess and maintain a drivers license valid in the state of their residence. Will be required to complete and maintain forms needed for a driver qualification file. Will be required to obtain a DOT medical card.
Work Environment
- Must be adaptable to variations in topography and weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver equipment and materials of varying weights up to 100 lbs.
Schedule
- Wednesday - Sunday 7:30am - 3:30pm
- Position may be subject to mandatory off hours call-out and overtime.
