Primary Role
Operates and maintains water treatment and wastewater treatment plants and production facilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for the monitoring and operations of 4 water treatment plants, 1 wastewater treatment plant, and associated booster pump stations, lift stations, and storage tanks.
- Operate, maintain, control and calibrate plant equipment, including performing routine preventative maintenance.
- Establish, monitor, control and adjust flows, pressures and chemical feed through water treatment process.
- Receive, offload, transfer and analyze bulk chemical deliveries, including handling of treatment chemicals.
- Maintain all necessary records.
- Perform water quality sampling, testing and analysis for process, routine and compliance standards.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and water quality analyzers.
- General maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Available to be on a rotating weekly on-call schedule.
Knowledge/Skills
- Read and understand instructions, operating procedures, safety rules.
- Mathematical skills for calculating chemical dosages, volumes, weights, flows, and other algebraic formulas.
- Mechanical ability sufficient to operate pumps, valves, motors and other equipment.
- Knowledge of water and/or wastewater treatment plant operations.
- General knowledge of water sampling, testing procedures, chemical handling and storage, and lab equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Certifications & Licenses
- Required to have a WT3 license or obtain the WT3-OIT license within a 2-year period.
- Required to have a DSL license or obtain the DSL-OIT license within a 3-year period.
