$75,500 to $126,126
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Primary Role
Provides supervision for Customer Service Field and Meter Reading Operations (union environment).
Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback, and coaching.
Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand and perform their duties and assigned tasks.
Responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates, other departments, and management.
Role will be Monday through Friday, 630am to 3pm
Role will have on call responsibilities
Local travel around Sacramento, CA area
Position will be 90% office, 10% field
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise and coordinate regional construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.
- Assures policies, procedures, programs and performance are adhered to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
- Train and develop personnel in proper operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.) is maintained.
- Obtains all required permits, licenses, rights of way, etc. required for proper compliance.
- Customer service heavy position with daily customer interaction through various methods including phone, email, and site visits. Resolves customer complaints by researching and making software system and/or billing adjustments, in addition to performing customer complaint field investigations.
- Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective functional areas.
- Will manage all aspects of the districts metering program which includes meter reading, testing, troubleshooting, inventory, ordering and regulatory requirements replacements.
- Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in both the regulated and non-regulated markets Supports manger to ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management, etc.) and ensure resources are developed and deployed appropriately.
- Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce. Work collaboratively with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.
- Implement effective communications at all levels of our operations.
- Provide effective leadership that will enhance our abilities to be flexible to changing business environments.

Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business within the region and the regulations impacting the business as well as applicable regulations, requirements, and trends within water/wastewater business.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends.
- Expert knowledge of process and operational areas.
- Experience: Two (2) years of previous supervisory experience.
Experience/Education
- High School Dipolma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline is preferred
- Previous experience managing a team is required.
- Previous experience managing union-represented employees preferred
- Valid driver's license is required
- Strong knowledge of computer software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook is required
- Must be proactive, resourceful, independent, and self- motivated
Certifications & Licenses
- California D3 preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- Ability to obtain AWWA Cal-Nevada Backflow Testers certification within 18 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain AWWA Cal-Nevada Cross Connection Specialist Certification within 18 months of hire.
