Posted rate: $42.01/hr.

This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth.

Primary Role

The Station Operator - Level 1 may be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.

Key Accountabilities

Station Operator - Level 1 responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Operate the water treatment facilities and related appurtenances including, but not limited to, chemical feed equipment, pumps, valves, purification units, and standby generation and residual processing equipment to insure the safe, reliable production and delivery of the highest quality water 
• Review, monitor, and adjust hydraulic and chemical processes to achieve and maintain established water quality standards and system delivery requirements. 
• Operate and adjust computer/automated control systems to insure the integrity of water treatment facilities, transmission and distribution systems, remote hydraulic and chemical systems and maintain established water quality standards and system delivery requirements. 
• Prioritize and coordinate tasks and/or activities required for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of water systems and related appurtenances. 
• Respond to inquires accurately and professionally, and when necessary involve the appropriate individuals to resolve customer and company-related issues and to achieve the highest level of customer service in all areas of assigned responsibility. 
• Perform and/or assist with repairs to, and maintenance of, equipment and facilities, such as, but not limited to, chemical pump cleaning, piping repairs and modifications, cleaning and painting of equipment and structures, machinery lubrication, pump adjustments, equipment analysis and data collection, vibration, temperature and electrical readings and analytical water testing equipment 
• Maintain the appearance of facilities and grounds in accord with Company standards. 
• Prepare and maintain accurate facilities and systems records and reports. 
• Receive chemicals and materials in accordance with established company, state and/or federal safety standards and/or practices Collect water samples in accord with established water quality procedures Perform water treatment tests and evaluate water samples to ensure process water quality is within established parameters and adjust treatment processes to insure the integrity of the water supply. 

Knowledge/Skills

• The Station Operator - Level 1 must possess a working knowledge of the treatment facility and the distribution system network, including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory and facility locations as well as a thorough understanding of water treatment processes at all facility locations, including, chemical feeds, such as disinfection and corrosion control to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the production facilities and related appurtenances.
• The individual must possess a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices, as well as state and federal regulations applicable to area of responsibility including, but not limited to, TCPA, DPCC and OSHA. The Station Operator - Level 1 will be required to become an EHS Operator and a certified Emergency Responder Technician.
• The Station Operator - Level 1 must be capable of operating equipment necessary for the completion of assignments.
• The Station Operator - Level 1 candidate will have 60 days to enroll in a New Jersey State approved Introduction to Water/Wastewater Operations training course. The Station Operator - Level 1 candidate must attain and maintain a T-1 and W-1 License in accord with the educational and operational criteria established by the State of New Jersey within 3.5 years from date of hire and will also be required to pass a qualification assessment developed by the Company, prior to the expiration of the 180 day trial period. Failure to attain and maintain licenses in the time frames outlined above, and achieve the skills required will result in the individual’s loss of the Station Operator - Level 1 position and return to the previous Company classification or, if none, termination of employment
• The individual will also be required to pass an initial and annual Emergency Response and OSHA medical assessment and must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for Station Operator - Level 1.

• Station Operator - Level 1 will be required to become an EHS Operator and a certified Emergency Responder Technician. The Station Operator - Level 1 candidate must attain and maintain a T-1 and W-1 License in accord with the educational and operational criteria established by the State of New Jersey within 3.5 years from date of hire and will also be required to pass a qualification assessment developed by the Company, prior to the expiration of the 180 day trial period.
