Primary Role
We’re thrilled to share a fantastic career opportunity at our St. Joseph, MO location.
Process Technician operates and maintains the groundwater treatment facility, well field, booster stations and tanks, including daily operations and maintenance. Must follow all work and safety rules established by the company.
The Water Plant Operator Apprentice role requires an independent, hands-on worker with maintenance skills. Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This role will require a weekly schedule of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - 7:00 a,m. to 3:30 p.m. And, Saturday and Sunday 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth.

Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for daily operations and maintenance activity in the production department assigned.
- Maintains accurate records of all maintenance activities.
- Assists with the preparation of maintenance activities as required.
- Makes water treatment control tests and calculations necessary to control the water treatment and pumpage of the facility.
- Maintains storeyards and materials in an orderly fashion. Renovates salvaged materials. If a vehicle is assigned, ensures that the vehicle is kept stocked with necessary materials, tools, and equipment. Keeps vehicle, tools, and equipment clean and secure. Makes or assists in making measurements on the job. Adheres to OSHA standards, other applicable regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of the usage of distribution maps and construction plans in any format and how to locate the various distribution facilities.
- Direct production personnel and make decisions when required.
- Encourages and maintains a safe work environment.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
- Possesses a working knowlege of personal computers, RTU's and programmable logic controllers.
Experience/Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications
This position will require to obtain and maintain a State of Missouri Water Supply
Operator’s Class “B” Certification as required by Missouri Department of Natural Resources
(DNR) (Code of State Regulations, 10CSR 60-14) and will remain classified as an Apprentice
until a Class A Water Operators Certificate is obtained.

- Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Able to work in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Must be available for after-hours work and other emergencies as necessary.
