Position Information
$70,690 to $118,100
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Primary Role
This role will be responsible for supervising front-line personnel and implementing operational processes that are engaged in the functional area of production for water operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
- Schedule training and development activities to ensure that personnel obtain and maintain appropriate operator certifications from regulating agencies.
- Participate in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues.
- Coordinates the construction of new and/or upgraded production facilities in accordance with approved CAPEX budget.
- Implement a preventative maintenance program for capital assets that provides OPEX savings and defers CAPEX spending, where possible.
- Day-to-day implementation of security efforts at all production facilities.
- Supervise daily activities to ensure that adequate quantities of treated water meeting all regulatory standards are provided to customers at all times.
- Supervise operational and business processes to ensure that American Water policies are followed, best practices are implemented, and internal/external reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Responsible for compliance with regularity programs including TCPA, DPCC, etc.
- Treatment Chemical management, including monitoring chemical storage and ordering deliveries.
Knowledge/Skills
- Previous knowledge of the regulated water business and the regulations impacting the business.
- Previous knowledge of company policies and procedures, practices, and trends.
- Previous knowledge of process and operational areas.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office. Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
- 5 years of relevant experience in field.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Previous experience managing a Union workforce is preferred.
Travel Requirements
- Role will be 4 days in office/ 1 day Remote.
- Must be able to report to our Short Hills, NJ office.
- Must be able to travel for meetings.
Work Environment
- Office environment with occasional outdoor work and visits to treatment plants or system facilities.
- On-call responsibility.
- Must be for available for weekends and holidays.
