Primary Role

Responsible for implementing, coordinating, and compiling and analyzing data on Conservation programs. Also responsible for representing California American Water with community partners and Conservation groups at the local and regional levels.

 

$65,208 to $108,966 annually ($31.35-$52.38 hourly)

The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Key Accountabilities

  • Compiles and analyzes data for compliance with water conservation regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly reports to the Manager of Water Conservation and Efficiency on conservation program activity.
  • Implements and maintains water conservation programs at the district level.
  • Trains Conservation staff on water conservation audits, program reporting, and program implementation.
  • Investigates and resolves routine customer questions and complaints relating to water conservation.
  • Records information relating to customer contacts and work performed.
  • Conducts water conservation audits for residential customers and/or commercial customers and provides written and oral feedback on audit to customers.
  • Prepares and delivers conservation presentations at community forums, some of which may be after hours. Represents California American Water and distributes water conservation information to interested parties at scheduled, community events, schools, and other events.
  • Liaises with Conservation groups at the local and regional level to coordinate and enrich California American Water’s conservation program.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally to support California American Water's geographically dispersed operations.
  • Does other similar work as called upon to perform, and any other work as necessary or to satisfactorily complete the job to which has been assigned.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated organization and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Should be familiar with California American Water’s water conservation policies and rules and must be comfortable with approaching customers and reinforcing the conservation message with them.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Requires experience with water efficiency auditing, water conservation programming, or 2-4 years’ experience in water utility industry.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Must obtain Irrigation Auditor Certification from the Irrigation & Research Center at California Polytechnic State University or Irrigation Association, and AWWA Water Use Efficiency 1 within one (1) year.

Work Environment

50% Field work; 50% Office work.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel up to 10% within the assigned territory
  • Must be onsite in our Sacramento, CA office 5 days if not traveling
