Job Title:  Regulation Utility Person

Job Description: 

Primary Role

To perform a variety of tasks by participating in the operation, maintenance, and replacement of company pressure facilities, valves, and hydrants. Also performs flow test, performs pressure investigations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Performs activities as directed by Crew Leader.
  • Investigates complaints and determines corrective actions per Company procedures.
  • Maintains/Repairs company pressure facilities in all aspects to insure proper operation.
  • Maintains/Repairs hydrants and valves.
  • Sets up barricades and place work lights around work sites to protect workers from street traffic.
  • Manual digging of valves, valve boxes and hydrants using shovel and digging bar.
  • Breaks us asphalt and concrete using power tools.
  • Tapping into pressure water lines.
  • Location and marking of company facilities.
  • Make necessary connections to customer and company service lines.
  • Perform necessary duties to help analyze system hydraulics.
  • Completes all necessary forms and sketches.
  • Drives vehicles and/or trucks in performance of general job.
  • Must be available for callout and scheduled overtime.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisors.

Knowledge/Skills

  • General knowledge of WB/Scranton water systems.
  • Knowledgeable of usage of maps and records.
  • Knowledge of company procedures.
  • Mechanical ability and basic understanding of hydraulics
  • Communicate in effective manner both oral and written with Company personnel.
  • Ability to comply with company's' attendance and safety policies.
  • Read and understand instructions, safety rules, maps, diagrams, etc.
  • Must be able to read, and perform basic math.

Experience/Education

  • Prior maintenance and operations duties on water system.
  • Vocational education, apprentice training, on the job training.
  • High School graduate or state recognized educations equivalency certificate.
  • Hold DEP Class E License / obtain within 1 year and maintain license.

Physical Requirements

  • Pass DOT physical examination.
  • Lifting 100lb with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Wet and humid: Wet contact with water or other liquids. Humid: Atmospheric conditions with moisture content sufficiently high to cause marked bodily discomfort. 
  • Noise and Vibrations: Sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction. 
  • Hazards: Situations in which individual is exposed to the definite risk of bodily injury. Exposure to: Odors, toxic conditions, chemicals dusts or dusts or poor ventilation.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
