Posted Range: $31.78 p/h

Key Accountabilities

• Building maintenance and repairs of the structure, mechanical systems and plumbing system, such as moving furniture, painting, repairing leaks.
• Equipment maintenance and repairs to pumps, motors, valves and piping
• Use of small and large hand and powered rotary and impact tools (such as screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, jack hammers, power cut off saw), rigging/lift equipment, cutting and burning equipment.
• Netherwood and Belle Mead Mechanics perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs as assigned.
• Chemical feed system maintenance, including pump repair, pipe repair and installation.
• Respond to chemical spills and releases for clean up and decontamination work in chemical protective clothing/SCBA in alternating ½ hour shifts.
• Excavation work and basin cleaning work.
• River water intake cleaning and maintenance, including raking and removal of river debris.
• Collecting required samples per sampling procedures and completing the required documentation on Plant and distribution systems.
• Regularly lifting hatches to enter confined spaces to assess equipment condition or make repairs.
• Regular use of an atmospheric monitor to assess environment conditions.
• Work from ladders and/or scaffolding.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills

• Able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
• Operate a tractor, grass cutter, and/or forklift.
• Written and verbal communications of work progress.
• Ability to don required personal protection equipment including hard hat, safety goggles, body harness type fall arrester, etc.
• Ability to don the multiple levels of personal protection equipment including chemical resistant suits, gloves, hats, eye protection and positive and negative pressure respirators including self contained breathing apparatus.
• Complete and execute HAZWOPER training and work in permit required confined spaces with PPE.
• Possess geographic knowledge of the company's service area and 1 distribution system. Following an assigned route as mapped
• Customer Service focused.

• Must have working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices applicable to area of responsibility, as well as federal regulations regarding confined spaces, lockout/tagout, etc_
• If awarded the position, must pass training requirements which include, but are not limited to, TCPA for Ozone; 40 hour HAZWOPPER Training; confined space entry; Respiratory Protection
training; fire extinguisher training; PPE training; Excavation-Competent Person; hot work; forklift; arc flash protection scaffolding and Lockout/tag out "authorized" training.

Experience/Education

• High School diploma or G.E.D 

• Use of excavating and hand and powered repair tools a·nd the ability to individually handle and control a fire hose for basin cleaning.
• Hand operation of large and small valves, above and below ground level,
• Capable of operating Company equipment and vehicles necessary for the completion of assigned responsibilities.

Certifications & Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license. Must obtain a CDL Class A within 1 year of start. A T-1 water treatment license must be obtained within 3 years of start date.
• NJ DEP T-1 License (must be obtained within (3) three years of start date and maintained through re-certifications),
• Must obtain 40 hour Hazwopper certification within 3 months of accepting the position. Certification must be maintained annually,
• Personnel who work at remote production facilities must obtain a COL license with a Hazmat endorsement within 120 days of their start date,

Work Environment

• Work indoors and outdoors. Will be required to work in all adverse weather conditions (Le,, rain, snow, sleet, heat).
• Work in the presence of hazardous gases, liquids and solids.
• Working alone in public and remote areas, in buildings and pits, traveling by truck
• Understand and follow Company safety procedures; wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Adhere to Company dress code
