Geo Zone 4 $82,368 - $137,592
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Key Accountabilities
- Plan, supervise, operate, and participate in the maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of Coastal district’s water production wells, pumping plants, storage facilities and PRV/PSV, and inspect the installation of water production/storage systems.
- Provide support and supervision of field operations including assisting the foreman and subordinates in troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities that will include promoting associate development by implementing training programs, safety training and implementation, preventive/corrective maintenance, and distribution system operations.
- Implement best operating practices to promote a safe work environment for all.
- Assign work to teams through written and verbal instructions to the Production Foreman and staff.
- Communicate effectively with regulators and customers and promote an effective and lasting relationship based on mutual respect.
- Ensure that compliance reporting is complete, timely and accurate in all respects.
- Provide guidance to the Production Foreman in effective management of resources.
- Review work orders, follow-up notices, time sheets, well reports, vehicle inspection sheets, water quality complaints, and water quality of distribution system.
- Actively assist with developing and administering capital and O&M budgets.
- Available to work after-hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary.
Knowledge/Skills
- Must have a working knowledge of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of water production and storage systems.
- Superior knowledge of safety practices in the operation of equipment used in production and storage systems.
- Sound knowledge of procedures, materials, tools, equipment and safety hazards and precautions common to assigned area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of business practices and principles.
- Must have the ability to develop preliminary O&M budgets, manpower needs, work schedules and assist with developing capital O&M projects.
- Must be able to communicate operational and personnel issues to the Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- Must have the ability to supervise a diverse workforce.
- Must be able to communicate in an articulate manner with the public, regulators, consultants, and company officials.
- Must be able to write clear and concise reports, memos and letters regarding operations, distribution, and personnel issues.
- Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment in duties and establish and maintain effective working relationships with upper management, personnel, and vendors.
- Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must have basic computer skills and be familiar with other similar devices such as iPads, Toughbook’s, etc.
- A working knowledge of SAP, MapCall, GIS, and Power Plant is desired.
- Demonstrate good project and process management and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Experience/Education
- Five years of hands-on experience in utility operations with at least two years supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30 pm
Certifications
- SWRCB Grade 2 Distribution and SWRCB Grade 2 Treatment certification required or the ability to obtain certification within two years of hire.
- Valid State Driver's License with the ability to pass a motor vehicle report
