Primary Role
Support the company’s growth initiatives primarily through asset acquisitions, Responsible for the origination of new business opportunities. This includes forming relationships with municipal and privately owned water and wastewater systems and presenting benefits of divesting operations and assets, and acquiring such assets, leading and submitting RFQ/RFB’s efforts for procurements, negotiate sales for resale contracts and developing other related business opportunities.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop asset acquisition opportunities from origination to purchase agreement.
- Facilitate due diligence for opportunities while working with a cross-functional team.
- Present opportunities for approval by leadership team.
- Lead the preparation of bids for acquisitions of water and wastewater systems, and other related business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain necessary contracts to stay abreast of new business opportunities.
- Reflect a working knowledge of regulatory and technical developments, new technologies and current trends as they affect water and sewer utility facilities, operations, management and revenue recovery in the performance of assigned projects.
- Maintain an active presence in the functions of State Government departments (i.e., Environmental Regulations, Public Utility Regulations, etc.).
- Participate in meetings, conferences, seminars, etc., involving Municipal Township or similar organizations, presenting the advantages of ownership transfer whenever possible.
- Prepare informational material regarding acquisition strategies including financial modeling and assisting in the development of those strategies.
Knowledge/Skills
- Business and operational acumen, communication (written and verbal), networking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (presentation skills: fluency, report writing).
- Interpersonal skills, (e.g., persuasion negotiation, cooperation, diplomacy).
- Strong project management and planning (organization and coordinating) skills.
- Strong internal consulting skills.Position requires understanding of financial models, including knowledge of spreadsheet software packages, as well as legal aspects of the regulatory environment.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor's Degree - Business/Accounting, Marketing or technical field, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years business development experience and knowledge of the water and waste water industries.
Travel Requirements
- Primarily travel in a localized area of western Pennsylvania, but throughout Pennsylvania as needed.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
Work Environment
- Office and external meetings and events; evenings as needed.
- Hybrid schedule. 3:2 - 3 days in the office, 2-days working remotely.
