Work Schedule

The shift hours for this position are from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM no lunch included.

Primary Role

  • To perform work under a team concept on the distribution system including new construction, customer services, meter installations and meter reading as assigned by supervisor.
  • To make decisions within the guidelines established by supervisor necessary to carry out and complete work assignments.

Key Accountabilities

  • To perform work assigned by the supervisor.
  • To install, remove, and read meters.
  • To communicate with customers and other employees to satisfy customer requests and inquiries.
  • To inspect customers' facilities and obtain and record data.
  • To observe and report any abnormal conditions (unbilled account, dangerous meter tops, theft of service, etc.). To communicate with contractors, providing information of American Water requirements and standards during service installation or reconfiguring.
  • To use a computer and mobile application software. To be on-call after hours and over the weekend during the assigned employee rotations for Service Watch.

Experience/Education

High school graduate or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.

Working Environment

Must satisfactorily pass company's physical examination.
Must be able to perform such activities as walking, stooping, and lifting.
