Primary Role
The Meter Technician may be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications and training.
Qualifications and Requirements
- The Meter Technician must be able to gain knowledge of of all facets of meter testing procedures including company and state regulations, repairing, stock inventory, testing, customer service records and procedures to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the Meter Shop Facility and related appurtenances.
- The Meter Technician must be able to gain knowledge of of computer data bases as it relates to the development of process control strategies for analyses, test data, processing meters, repairing meters and stock inventories.
- The individual must possess analytical skills and problem-solving techniques as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and must be detailed oriented and capable of computing and recording numbers and preparing accurate records and documents.
- The individual must be able to gain a working knowledge of company policies, procedures and safety practices as well as state regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
- The Meter Technician must be capable of operating equipment and vehicles, such as a forklift, company car, box truck (CDL) when necessary for the completion of assignments.
- The individual must be capable of performing the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for a Meter Technician.
- The individual must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire date.
Scope of Responsibilities
The Meter Technician’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize and coordinate tasks and/or activities required for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the Meter Shop and related appurtenances.
- Process, test, and repair meters in the Meter Shop facility.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of meters and related parts and record in the company inventory system.
- Drive box truck to pickup and deliver meters & parts to the various Operating Centers.
- Utilize SAP and other company applications to investigate, process, and test meters.
- Test meters for customer complaints and regulatory witnessed complaints; record and explain procedures and results to the customer.
- Record any material or supply issues and inform company personnel and contractors in accordance with established company policies and practices.
- Receive materials in accordance with established company, state, and/or federal safety standards and/or practices.
- Prepare and maintain accurate facility and system records and reports.
- Clean and maintain the facility, including but not limited to, sweeping, floor cleaning, truck and test bench maintenance, etc.
Experience/Education
