Primary Role
American Water is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our team in East. St. Louis. In this role, you will be responsibe for the preventative maintenance of treatment plant equipment including hydraulics, chemical feed systems, analyzers, pumps, motors, valves and more. Our ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and be eager to learn the water industry.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong work ethic, time management and organizational and team membership skills
- Ability to communicate well and to work with minimal supervision. Good mechanical skills
- Ability to start up, shut down, and make operating adjustments to all equipment for proper continued operation
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs
- Basic computer skills are required
Education/Experience
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Mechanical and/or electrical experience or training is desired
- 0-2 years of experience working in water industry
Shifts/Hours
- Full-time Tuesday - Saturday 2PM - 10:30PM
**Changes in hours may become necessary for continued operation of Business**
Certifications
- Class C Water Operator License required after 2 years in position
- Class A Water Operator License required after 4 years in position.
- Class C driver's license and D.O.T. medical card required within 30 days of being awarded position
