Primary Role

Responsible for the on-site inspection of construction work for large and complex water resource projects, the size and importance of which have a major impact on the performance of the utility subsidiary. Individual project assignments vary.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervises on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure conformance to contract documents.
  • Oversees compliance with the requirements of permits and approvals granted for construction.
  • Coordinate with permitting agencies for inspections and certifications of compliance. 35%
  • Coordinates, guides, assigns work to and serves as technical advisor to lower levels of Construction Inspector on large and complex projects. 20%
  • Represents the Water Company as the primary point of on-site contact for construction contractors. Serve as a liaison between construction contractors and the Water Company. 15%
  • Serve as the on-site liaison between the engineering organization and construction contractors to resolve questions related to the engineering of assigned projects. 15%
  • Prepare, or supervise the preparation of project documentation in accordance with Company Standards.
  • Maintains records of work changes and assists in preparation of "as built" drawings. 10%
  • Review and approval of construction contractor progress payments. 5%

Knowledge/Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering specifications and construction technology and practices.
  • Knowledge of surveying, federal and company safety regulations, and in-depth knowledge of critical path and method scheduling principles. Skills: Coordinating and organizing skills.
  • Ability to read engineering plans and specifications for complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills (e.g., verbal, listening, recording).
  • Interpersonal skills (e.g., tack/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation, ability to motivate others).
  • Attention to details.

Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience on major construction projects. (10 years).

Travel Requirements

Travel required.

Work Environment

80% Field / Construction Site Work Environment and 20% Office
