Job Description: 

Primary Role

Responsible for supervising front-line personnel and implementing operational processes that are engaged in the functional area of Production for water operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assures policies, procedures, programs and performance are adhered to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability
  • Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
  • Schedule training and development activities to ensure that personnel obtain and maintain appropriate operator certifications from regulating agencies.
  • Participate in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues.
  • Record, compile and provide operating data to track the financial performance of production operations.
  • Coordinates the construction of new and/or upgraded production facilities in accordance with approved CAPEX budget.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program for capital assets that provides OPEX savings and defers CAPEX spending, where possible.
  • Day-to-day implementation of security efforts at all production facilities.
  • Supervise daily activities to ensure that adequate quantities of treated water meet all regulatory standards are provided to customers at all times.
  • Supervise operational and business processes to ensure that American Water policies are followed, best practices are implemented, and internal/external reporting requirements are satisfied.
  • Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in both the regulated and non-regulated markets
  • Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce.
  • Work collaboratively with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.
  • Implement effective communications at all levels of our operations.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of process and operational areas.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelors Degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in operations is preferred
  • Must possess valid drivers license.
  • Certifications/Training in Safety preferred
  • Previous experience leading people is preferred
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
  • Highly skilled in using technology to manage information, complete reports, and support daily operations.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid driver license required 
  • Certification / Training in Safety preferred
  • DEP License preferred. If not, must obtain within 1 year of hire

Work Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor environment
  • 24/7 operations
  • M-F shift 7am to 3pm with On-call responsibilities 
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Lift minimum 25lbs.
  • Occassional hands on work required. 

Travel Requirements

  • Local and occasional regional travel around Carbondale, PA
  • 50% Office 50% Field work
