Primary Role

The Senior Solution Engineer leverages technical systems knowledge and experience to solve complex problems across specific business process areas [e.g., ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) with Hire-to-Retire (HTR), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Record-to-Report (R2R); Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Meter-to-Cash (MTC), etc.] or more broadly across lines of business in order to enable a specific employee.
or customer groups [e.g., solutions for finance, operations, HR]. 


SAP technical lead with experience in S/4 HANA. Senior Solution Engineer will be responsible for the technical design and development of systems that meet specifications, requirements, and overall business needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Full Stack Developer / Back end - ABAP on HANA Deep knowledge of SAP UI5/Fiori & other web apps integrated with SAP Experience of end-to-end configuration, Fiori Elements, OData, CDS views, RESTFUL API (RAP Programming)
  • Coordinate with functional team to finalize the technical design. 
  • Perform unit testing and support integration testing.
  • Support the deployment of changes by updating and distributing documentation of own custom developments according to SAP Standard for Custom Code Management.
  • Identify and decommission unused custom code.
  • Act as the technical expert, ensuring quick turnaround in identifying application issues and providing timely solutions.
  • Perform performance tuning to improve performance over multiple functions.
  • Quality and code review and provide feedback on development done by other resources.
  • Work with functional SMEs and SI teams to understand the scope of work and ensure all RICEF meets guiding principles.
  • Provide SAP best Practice knowledge to aid in the design processes. 
  • Understand and support OpenText components (such as VIM, Exstream etc.) and corresponding developments in SAP.

The Senior Solution Engineer will lead projects with some guidance that execute against this roadmap. The Senior Solution Engineer adheres to technology standards and the governance framework set by leadership. They work collaboratively with other technology domains to develop innovative business driven solutions.
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Solution Roadmap Development
    • Drive the effort to develop plans that match short-term and long- term business goals with specific solutions to help meet those goals. The plan applies to enhance systems, new system, or process or to an emerging business process or technology solution.
  • Team Development
    • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.
    • Perform as a team of strategic, creative, and solution professionals who partner with employees to solve business problems and meet meaningful business goals.
  • Solution Expertise
    • Develop and/or promote technical solutions which support the business requirements within their area of expertise. Be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to software or web development and/or support.
  • Enterprise Systems Operations & Support
    • Support the peer Technology & Innovation teams in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
    • Engage closely with business partners to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through solutions enablement and then work with the peer T&I teams & partners to ensure the solutions reach successful implementation of busines results. 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge required:
    • Strong knowledge of digital technologies, enterprise systems, and applicability for the water and wastewater industries.
    • Expertise with specific enterprise systems, process domains, and/or a small set of interdisciplinary specialties [e.g., HTR, P2P, R2P, EAM, MTC, general ERP and/or SAP, PowerPlan, Hyperion, SuccessFactors] and/or deep knowledge of a particular specialty area.
  • Skills required:
    • Understanding of SAP ISU Utilities.
    • Understanding of SAP finance integration with different modules/systems.
    • SAP Activate and test methodologies knowledge.
    • Knowledge of end-to-end development process.
    • Experience with SAP Solution Manager CCLM (Decommissioning cockpit, ATC etc.)
    • Gateway O-Data performance analysis.
    • Knowledge of the Enterprise Information Management industry and related products – OpenText products preferred.
    • Understanding cloud computing technologies (SaaS, PaaS, MPC, etc.) is an advantage.
    • Excellent decision-making ability, balancing what is right with what is realistic.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and to deliver results through others while overcoming obstacles to success.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for a wide variety of audiences including proven ability to deliver internal presentations Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while simultaneously maintaining the ""big picture"" view.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Operations, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of Engineering MBA or Master's degree will be a plus.
  • Appropriate technical certification in specialty area preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience with SAP development and support in the ISU and ERP and experience with at least two full SAP system implementations. 
  • Experience with the water utility industry is desired, but not required.

Travel Requirements

  • As necessary, up to 15%.

Work Environment

  • Primarily in an office environment.

Certifications & Licenses

  • SAP Certification in one or more of the following disciplines is desired.
  • Back-End Developer - ABAP Cloud.
  • SAP Fiori Application Developer.
