Salary Range: $59,280 - $99,060
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Primary Role
The CAD Designer is responsible for creating complex, multi-discipline, 3-dimensional models and layouts; design and construction plan and record drawing preparation for water, wastewater and other water resource facilities. Responsible for CAD layout and design assistance for all aspects of mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation & control systems. Responsible for development of CAD Standards and Standard Construction Details. Maintains company engineering models, drawings, CAD files, and provides technical support and mentoring to CAD Technicians across the company. Performs quality assurance and quality control reviews of all drawings and assists Engineering Manager in maintaining productivity of CAD Technicians within department.

Key Accountabilities
- Develops complex, 3-dimensional, multi-discipline CAD models, design layouts and details, and Engineering Design drawings using AutoCAD MEP or other company-preferred 3-dimensional design software. Creates 3-D models, plans, sections and details of:
- mechanical equipment, process piping, plumbing and HVAC ductwork.
- structural components including slabs, foundations, walls, and steel appurtenances and reinforcement
- architectural components and assemblies including building exteriors, walls, roofs, doors, stairs, trusses and trim
- site civil construction including parking lots, stormwater management systems, grading and erosion control, landscaping and related infrastructure; and 5) electrical power distribution systems, instrumentation and controls systems
- Serves as liaison between engineers and CAD Technicians. Mentors all AW CAD Technicians and users. Performs quality control and assurance reviews on in-house design project drawings, and reviews out-sourced design documents for conformance to AW CAD standards. Assists with CAD workload distribution and supervision
- Completes Comprehensive Planning Study exhibits and special presentation exhibits using AutoCAD or other company-selected software; procures electronic record documents and converts manually drawn record documents to ensure complete information for the exhibits
- Assists IT in maintaining AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D or other workstations; coordinates with IT Department for AutoCAD software license maintenance and compliance; maintains drawing file directories and archives; maintains electronic drawing database, maintains drawings, microfilm and catalog files, associated indexes and drafting supplies; reviews and files shop drawings; process printing orders.
- Develops and maintains Standard Construction Details Manuals, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or other CAD Standards Manuals.
Knowledge/Skills

Advanced knowledge of and expertise in computer aided, 3-dimensional drafting; comprehensive, multi-discipline design utilizing AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Civil 3D or other CAD techniques and extensive knowledge of general engineering concepts and terminology related to water and wastewater treatment, pumping, storage, distribution and transmission facilities.

Familiarity with engineering concepts relevant to their field, such as mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural and civil engineering principles.

Experience/Education
- Associate’s degree and Certifications in CAD Design, Engineering Technology, or related field. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree may be considered
- 8+ years’ experience in drafting, design, and 3-D modeling of engineering disciplines.
Certifications/Licenses
At least one technical drafting certification such as CD, CSWP, CDT, and/or Autodesk Certified Professional.
Work Environment
Standard indoor office environment.
Travel Requirements
Up to 5%, as required.
