Position Information

$130,000 - $140,000

The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Primary Role

Responsible for driving learning initiatives that support organizational transformation. This role will develop the strategy and deliver effective learning experiences for our transformation initiative by recommending, designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Change Management: Partner with Change Management to provide learning solutions that promote employee engagement and support the transformational changes ensuring smooth adoption and reducing resistance to new ways of working.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on industry best practices for transformation learning. Utilize data to identify areas for improvement, track progress, and make informed decisions. This involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive continuous improvement for learning programs.
  • Learning Needs Analysis: Conduct thorough needs analysis to identify existing skill sets gaps related to our organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Define and assess the effectiveness of learning programs and continuously improve them based on feedback and performance metrics.
  • Program Design and Delivery: Oversee the development and delivery of measurable and sustainable learning programs that enhance skills, knowledge, and competencies across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all learning related inquiries, engage with stakeholders to identify learning needs and ensure learning programs meet organizational objectives.
  • Strategic Learning Initiatives: Develop and implement strategic learning initiatives that support organizational transformation and align with business goals.

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of internal and partner expectations, business strategies, products, services, systems, and processes.
  • Responsible for managing the full learning life cycle of needs analysis, course and curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
  • Familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and other learning technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work effectively across diverse project teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and assess learning initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of transformation trends, technologies, and best practices in learning.
  • Familiarity with blended learning approaches and adult learning principles such as ADDIE / 6 Disciplines of Breakthrough Training
  • Confident in developing and presenting to Executive Leaders

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. (Advanced degrees or certifications in learning, change management, or organizational/digital transformation are a plus.).
  • Overall, 7-10 years’ experience with a focus of 5+ years’ experience in adult learning, and at least 2 years in a leadership role on large-scale IT or organizational transformation projects.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Agile) or adult learning (e.g., ATD, CPTD) are a plus.

Work Environment

Primarily an indoor office environment with a hybrid work schedule.
