Salary Range: $98,800 - $165,100

 

The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Primary Role

The Principal Technologist solves very, complex technology cybersecurity problems This role will work closely with various project teams and will liaise with the American Water Enterprise Architecture team and will drive cyber compliance with all application regulations where they apply.  This role will include security review of enterprise architecture projects, standards, and technical design documents as well as creating documents for security standards to be used across the organization.  This role will also help produce procedures for the cybersecurity operations teams to follow in their day-to-day roles.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Security Architecture, Risk Assessment, Project involvement, Diagramming.
  • Strong knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries.
  • Expertise with a cybersecurity and cybersecurity architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply cybersecurity themes to solve practical problems in a high-tech development environment with multi- function teams for small to medium, complex systems with some guidance.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or similar technology field is required [equivalent work experience will be considered]. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Appropriate technical certification in specialty area preferred.
  • 7+ years experience working in the technology field required with an additional 3+ years dedicated to the specialty area as security architect or equivalent role.
  • Experience with the water utility industry is highly desired, but not required.

Travel Requirements

  • As necessary, up to 25%
