Primary Role
The Plant Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing a high volume of plant accounting transactions accurately and timely. Responsibilities include validating, preparing and processing transactions via fixed asset software, and providing issue analysis and workflow status resolution. This position will also review physical inventory counts to ensure proper counts are performed. The position requires the delivery of excellent customer service to internal clients.
Key Accountabilities
- Process transactions in accordance with departmental volume and accuracy standard
- Identify and correct issues preventing automated processing and resolve workflow status posting blocks.
- Review physical inventory counts to ensure proper counts are performed
- Collaborate with internal customers to continually evaluate efficiency opportunities or make enhancement recommendations within the current plant systems.
- Prepare ad hoc and ongoing reports for the department while continually evaluating and recommending improvements to reports.
- Assist with ensuring all Plant Accounting transactions are processed in accordance with USGAAP, SOX, regulatory and tax policies, and internal policy and procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal clients and external customers.
- Monitor aging transactions in workflow and troubleshoot
- Assist with new process implementations.
- Identify and suggest implementation of process and system enhancements to continuously improve operations.
- Address, resolve, and/or escalate stakeholder inquiries
- Willing to accept work outside of normal scope or responsibility
Knowledge/Skills
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to assess problems, resolve or escalate issues as necessary
- Strong problem solving, planning and organization skills, that arise in the day-to-day processing of plant accounting transactions
- Ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Good written and verbal communication
- Must have the ability to interact diplomatically and respectfully with co-workers, customers, and department management
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office tools (MS Office, etc.) General experience with fixed asset software/systems preferred
Experience/Education
- High school diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.
- Two-year Associates degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years prior job-related experience preferred.
- Utilities industry experience a plus
- SAP, or Powerplan experience a plus
