Job Title:  Manager, Payroll

Job Description: 

Primary Role

Lead Team to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately. Support team and all departments with all Time and payroll related projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead team responsible for processing time and attendance on based on Pay Cycle (weekly and bi-weekly) ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity to over 5000 employees in multiple states.
  • Assist with current and future projects that impact Time and Attendance. (Employee Central)
  • Monitor company benefit policies related to Time and Attendance and ensure system requirements and process are documented and communicated. (Leave of Absence and changes in CBA)
  • Serve as a partner to all departments and operations to research and assist on all aspects of Time and Attendance rules for Union Contract, investigations, grievances and audits.
  • Ensure that all procedures and training materials are updated and communicated as needed.
  • Ensure all team policies, procedures, work flows and controls are updated as needed.
  • Ensure team members are trained on Payroll Rules related to time for all Unions and Non Union and system configuration to identify defects or changes needed.
  • Review and submit Pay Rule changes needed related to any new state and federal time and attendance rules.

Additional Key Accountabilities

  • Test, verify and communicate all technical changes.
  • Monitors and confirms timely reconciliations of issues related to Time and Attendance and resolves discrepancies.
  • Orient, train, supervise and develop staff. Ensure redundant, backup capabilities are in place.
  • Actively communicates and reports issues with HR, Payroll Operations and Benefits to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, pay changes, exemption changes, location and address changes, benefits and/or insurance changes and terminations.
  • Supports Labor Relations team for data needed for negotiation of union contracts.
  • Supports all internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Timely investigates, resolves and remediates all Time / Attendance discrepancies.
  • Stays informed of and adheres to key dates and deadlines.
  • Work closely with HR and Labor Relation to ensure systems are updated timely in regards to all information and data that affects Time and Attendance for payroll processing.
  • Communicate pertinent process changes to all Departments including accounting, finance and HR.
  • Monitor and meet all SLA for Case management system and ensure that escalation process is in place for SLA not meet and Case transition process if impact to multiple work streams.

Experience/Education

  • 7 years Payroll and Timekeeping experience. .
  • Experience with 5,000 plus employees.
  • Experience related to HR and Payroll on ADP Payroll and ADP Vantage Time/eTime/ SAP

Work Environment

  • This is a remote position; candidates must be located in a state where American Water operates.
