Primary Role

Supports the HR Operations function as well as contributes to the overall success of the HR organization. Performs comprehensive administrative HR operations processes, reporting, data analytics, and coordination for assigned areas. This role will focus on the areas of administrative HR responsibilities in the HR Compliance area. This will include providing support with government reporting (EEO-1, VETS, BLS), workplace poster administration and audits, SOX timely termination reporting, I-9s, and other compliance audits, reports, or projects as needed. This individual needs to be strong in Excel and have previous HR experience.

  • Posted range is $54,080-78,780

  • The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for reporting, database maintenance, data collection, and data analytics within the HR function with minimal oversight and instruction.
  • Prepares reports, proposals, presentations, and spreadsheets in various company technologies and software.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including personnel files and documentation, for accuracy and compliance.
  • Completion and verification for all I-9s.
  • Conduct audits of HR data and other records on a regular basis to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist in completion of required government reporting such as EEO-1, VETS-4212, CA Pay Data Reporting, etc.
  • Manage the workplace poster vendor relationship, facilitate invoicing, conduct regular poster audits, monitor poster updates, maintain poster contact list, and provide support to poster subscribers as needed.
  • Onboarding: Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they have a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Supports HR operations for Onboarding and Offboarding.
  • Manages HR projects and events.
  • Performs standardized HR and company processes for assigned business unit(s).
  • Delivers fluid and timely people processes that allow for quick action and flexibility.
  • Uses needed technologies to operate at the highest and most efficient level.
  • Provides proactive solutions through synergies and collaboration across the business.
  • Defined specialized area as identified. Will represent HR in specific area of expertise as point of contact & identified projects.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Proven experience in HR coordination or related administrative roles.
  • Knowledge of HR processes, practices, and employment laws.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with HR software and Microsoft Office suite.

Experience/Education

  • 2-5 years of directly related experience supporting HR, or other complex organizations.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel expertise including the ability to perform/create pivot tables and execute other frequently used formulas (concatenate, vlookups, etc.)
  • SAP and SuccessFactors experience desired.
  • Microsoft suite experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Forms desirable.
  • Previous administrative experience is required with at least three years of increasing HR experience.
  • Prior experience with HR operational processes, onboarding and offboarding practices, HR compliance, and/or immigration.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Work Environment

  • Indoor office environment.
  • Hybrid schedule, 3:2 - 3 days in office, 2-days working remotely.
  • Flexible core working hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Active State Driver's License required with the ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
