American Water is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst to join the team! In this role you will collaborate with Information Technology business leaders to understand key business drivers, operational metrics, and deliver effective analysis of results! Apply TODAY for immediate consideration!

Primary Role

Responsible for supporting management in shaping, driving, and influencing business performance and continuous improvement for the Information Technology (IT) organization; supporting the business planning and reforecasting process, financial reporting and analysis; ratio analysis and operational metric interpretation; and collaboration with IT business partners on an ongoing basis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the monthly financial reporting process including variance analysis and management reporting. 
  • Collaborate with IT business leaders to understand key business drivers, operational metrics, and deliver effective analysis of results. 
  • Assist in the preparation of IT annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans. 
  • Collaborate with operational and financial business partners to develop budget assumptions and pertinent supporting schedules. 
  • Develop and maintain financial models for all IT business units, analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports to all levels of management, as needed, to support decision-making. 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships within finance and with all levels of management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP).
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills. 
  • SAP and Hyperion experience preferred.
     

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree(required) in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Advanced degree or CPA, CMA or CFA preferred. 
  • 3+ years of accounting/FP&A related experience required. 
  • Regulated utility experience preferred.
