Primary Role
This full-time (40-hour per week) hybrid experience offers an introduction to corporate development career opportunities in the water and wastewater industry. The successful candidate will gain firsthand insight into how water utilities foster sustainable communities that support economic growth and resiliency through strategic acquisitions.
Key Accountabilities
- The successful candidate will also learn how municipalities and regulated utilities accounting standards differ from typical corporate accounting, gaining insight into unique financial reporting and analysis practices.
- The candidate will collaborate with the Corporate Development team on various types of financial analysis related to potential acquisitions of water and wastewater systems.
- Projects may include analyzing municipal financial statements, building acquisition models, and developing presentation materials for Business Development Originators to use in meetings with municipalities.
Knowledge/Skills
- Typical duties are diverse and tailored to the student’s education and experience level of the student.
- Assignments may include performing financial analyses using software such as Microsoft Excel; conducting research on municipal financials; preparing presentation materials using PowerPoint; and supporting the development of internal templates and standards for corporate development processes.
- Depending on the candidate’s background, duties may also include learning project management skills, assisting in the preparation and review of acquisition models and supporting documentation, and developing materials for training programs.
