American Water Contract Services Group proudly partners with the City of Camden to provide water and wastewater services to the community. The City of Camden Division of Utilities’ water supply, serviced by American Water Contract Services Group and The Military Services Group, comes from groundwater that is treated at two facilities prior to delivery to the distribution system. The two water treatment plants provide safe, clean, and reliable water to approximately 46,000 residents in the Camden community. We are looking for Contracts Specialist to join our team. Primary Role

The Specialist, Contracts has primary responsibility for development of sub-contracts associated with Military Services Group (MSG) Prime Contracts, for ensuring the MSG Procurement Policy and the related Contract Administration Process are followed efficiently and consistently throughout the MSG, and for coordinating with all affected MSG departments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Proactively develop and manage processes and practices that support the MSG Procurement Policy, including the activities associated with developing subcontract agreements. 
  • Manage the approval of subcontract agreements and associated Task Orders, Change Orders, Statements of Work or other relevant documents, coordinating as appropriate with AWE Legal Counsel, Capital Managers, Engineers, and Finance Departments of MSG. 
  • Ensure Company properly enters into all subcontracts in accordance with the Delegation of Authority, the Code of Ethics and other applicable policies and practices.
  • Assist business unit in managing Contract Administration Process. 
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance with, and consistent application of Contract Administration Practices. 
  • Manage MSG’s vendor database within ContraXX, including issuance of the vendor data packet, uploading of vendor data, and tracking key renewable items such as insurance, DFARS requirements, and other company requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals and possess excellent functional / technical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office especially Excel, Word, Access.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met without compromising on quality of work performed. 
  • Self-starter, creative problem solver, persuasive and thorough, and strong team player. 
  • Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision), multi-task and have a collaborative work style with a strong desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment that requires flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience/Education

  • Minimum of 5 yrs. of contracts experience with emphasis on analytics and reporting.
  • Experience with common industry business requirements tools, with water and/or wastewater utility experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully developing business process changes and configuring business applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in a business discipline (or related field). 
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.

  • 10%

Work Environment

  • Office.
  • In addition to American Water’s pre-employment screenings, this position requires the ability to pass a Department of Defense background check for access to the military installation.
  • Must possess a valid, active state driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
