$98,800.00 - $165,100.00 annually
The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education, and/or experience. Primary Role
Responsible for administration of the company’s Water Quality and Environmental Compliance Programs; including, but not limited to, Drinking Water, Wastewater, and Environmental Regulations. Functional coordination state-wide with Operations (Water Quality, Production, and Field Operations).
Key Accountabilities
- Oversees a Water Quality monitoring program that ensures company compliance with regulatory and corporate standards for drinking water and wastewater
- Provides technical assistance to the business units/states on Water Quality and Environmental issues
- Assists local operations in creation and implementation of Environmental Management Plans
- Provide technical advice and assistance with business development
- Oversees the establishment, review, and approval of corporate water quality related reports and communications, and water quality operational procedures
- Provides coordination/support during Water quality and Environmental emergencies, and all activities
- Takes leadership role with Federal health and environmental agencies affecting water resources
- Actively participates in industry associations to ensure the companies role as an industry leader
- Coordinates the company's environmental audit program and administers the company-wide Water Quality and Environmental policies, goals, standards and controls
- Oversees the Industrial Pre-treatment Program
- Oversees the development of cross-connection and backflow prevention programs
- Oversees the Lead and Copper Program and compliance with Environmental Regulations
- Develops the functional capabilities of direct staff
- Maintain effective communications, provide constructive feedback, develop, and support an open and honest work environment
Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of science, theory and application of water/wastewater treatment and operations, water quality monitoring and quality assurance programs
- Excellent knowledge of water quality and environmental regulations affecting the business
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience is required in environmental management, project planning, or comparable public programs
- Experience in the management of people, processes, technologies and budgets
Travel Requirements
- Periodic travel in the US up to 10%
- Class 1 and Class A Operator license preferred; or ability to obtain within 4 years of hire
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid driver’s license
