Job Description:
Primary Role
The Sr Technician, Water Quality & Environmental Compliance, responsible for collecting samples from the treatment plant or distribution system, performing routine water quality analyses, sample custody, data entry and recordkeeping. Interpret water quality results and drive optimization in the treatment process for water and/or wastewater systems. Working with operations staff, collect, evaluate and prepare compliance reporting for operational data required for compliance submissions to regulators. Review and respond to water quality complaints and inquiries.
Key Accountabilities
- Collect and analyze process control and regulatory samples across water and wastewater system locations
- Maintain laboratory certification records and perform bacteriological analysis
- Review laboratory test results to ensure that the laboratory data meets QA/QC protocol and regulatory requirements
- Initiate chemical dosage changes when necessary
- Review, troubleshoot and maintain all laboratory equipment and continuous monitoring equipment and analyzers if assigned as a Water Quality task
- Work with internal and external customers to build good relationships and solve laboratory, treatment or service issues
- Evaluate and monitor supplies and other laboratory costs to assist in maintaining the lab budget
Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge
- Knowledge of water or other utility operations preferred
- Knowledge of specific systems such as SAP preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications including MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and email management systems (MS Outlook).

Experience/Education
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s degree in science, business administration or management, or related degree preferred
- 3 years’ experience in operations, administrative, and/or customer service, preferred
Travel Requirements
- Local and occasional regional travel, as needed.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Driver’s license

- Standard indoor office environment within an operations facility / treatment plant
