Work Schedule

This position is a union position with Illinois American Water and the starting pay rate is $32.34 per hour.

This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth. Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Weekend & On-call Rotation Rotational Overtime Flexibility required due to covering 5:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. shift.

Key Accountabilities

  • Duties will include those necessary to maintain and ensure reliable operation of wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
  • Maintenance tasks will be of a highly technical nature including work on pumps, chemical feed systems, and controls.
  • The successful candidate will be given tasks that require electrical, mechanical and wastewater facilities knowledge in addition to operations of heavy equipment including a forklift, front loader, dump truck and anyother duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong work ethic, time management, communication, organizational and team membership skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Position requires the ability to lift 75lbs. Computer literacy required.

Experience/Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required 0-2 years minimum in wastewater industry preferred

Certifications & Licenses

  • Must obtain and maintain an Illinois IEPA Wastewater Class 4 after 2 year, Class 3 after 3 years, Class 2 after 5 years and a Class 1 after 7 years of hire or transfer.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class B CDL and applicable endorsements along with DOT Medical Card within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean MVR

Work is outside year-round in all weather conditions.
